Sunset in Australia was a lot earlier than in the UK so it wasn't difficult to find photographic opportunities at the end of the day although it often clashed with meal time!
Australia: Coast
The coastline of Australia is amazingly diverse and we were able to explore stretches of it along the Great Ocean Road, Kangaroo Island and on mostly the Island of Tasmania.
Australia: Remarkable Rocks
Whilst our journey didn't include the Northern Territories and the iconic Ayers Rock we were fortunate enough to visit many other well known and amazing rock features.
West Burton Waterfall
Thursday promised to be a splendid day and so I headed off the Wensleydale to wander around the waterfalls of Aysgarth and West Burton.
Lake District Wanderings
It is a real shame that I only got to visit the Lake District once in 2016 but fitting everything into my new retirement regime has been trickier that I anticipated.
Rydal Water Mist
The day after Grasmere Sports I woke up and staggered to the window for weather investigation purposes. It was foggy but through my yawns I realised that this would burn off and hopefully produce some amazing effects. Quick. Quick. Where should I go?
Lovely Londesborough
Having experienced a wonderful walk around North Newbold in the eastern Yorkshire Wolds I decided to explore the nearby village of Londesborough. It is a tiny village with no pub, no shops and a ruined manor house.
Hayburn Wkye
There are so many places in Yorkshire that are hidden and lie undiscovered to both locals and visitors and Hayburn Wyke is one of these.
Yorkshire Dales - Limestone Country
In addition to photographing many of the waterfalls on the western side of the Dales I did a lot of walking as the Settle area is an area I don't know especially well.
Yorkshire Dales Waterfalls
I recently went to Settle for a week's holiday with the intention of exploring the limestone features and waterfalls of the western Yorkshire Dales. There is so much to explore on that side of the national park and the scenery is spectacular.
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust: Askham Bog
I got on my bicycle and pedalled off to nearby Askham Bog which was given to Francis Terry and Arnold Rowntree and the Yorkshire Naturalists' in 1946. They later became the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust which has a wealth of wonderful nature sites all around the county.
The Hole of Horcum
Having returned from four trips away in two months I grounded myself at home until I had caught up with all jobs. As a reward for my diligence I decided to visit Hole of Horcum on what was forecast to be a lovely sunny day.
A Day Out in Kettlewell
I realised that I hadn't visited the Yorkshire Dales in over a year which is a scandal now that I have so much on my hands so I decided to drive to Kettlewell.
Isle of Harris: There are Other Beaches
My itinerary started with a visit to Luskentyre Beach as this is the place that everyone raves about as it has some wonderful sand dunes, white sand and glorious blue sea with a background of mountains. However, I did visit some other beaches and I have to say that it was Scarista that stole my heart.
Isle of Harris: Not Just Sand
Whilst the Isle of Harris is renowned for it's fabulous white sand beaches there are so many other places to visit and photograph. There are mountains along the North Harris border and on Lewis there are many neolithic and historic sites that are really atmospheric and wonderful to explore.
Isle of Harris: Luskentyre Beach
I have just returned from a week in the Outer Hebrides where I was able to fill my days with exploration and photography.
Peak District Thoughts
There is so much variety in the Peak District to photograph and also some amazing places to explore and just enjoy for their own sake.
The Yorkshire Wolds: Shapes and Textures
The Yorkshire Wolds are a large area of chalkland starting near the Humber estuary and describing an arc around Flamborough and Scarborough, They end at Garrowby Hill escarpment forming the border of the Vale of York
Curbar Edge Evening
As soon as I arrived in The Peak District for my week's holiday I quickly unpacked and then set off for a new location on the east side of the National Park called Curbar Edge
Urban Leeds
A few weeks ago I was involved in a York Photographic Society project called "Urban". As most of my landscape images wouldn't qualify to fill the brief I set off for Leeds.
