Arkengarthdale

Most people visiting the Yorkshire Dales will go to the well known dales where the views are bigger and more dramatic. However, I have discovered the joys of Arkengarthdale and I’ve spent much of the year exploring this quiet but intimately beautiful dale.

The western slopes are mostly moorland but on the eastern side there are some lovely ancient woodlands and flower meadows. I love being able to walk without meeting crowds of people and I can sit and admire the views down the valley towards Reeth.

These photographs are a selection from my recent wanderings.
